Perfection is defined as the complete elimination of wasted time, effort and resource so that the customer can be served exactly what they need, only what they need, and exactly when they need it, with no delay and at minimum cost. It is understood that this is not completely achievable, but that the pursuit of perfection is necessary to deliver the best of what is possible – excellence and continuous improvement. Anything less opens the door to complacency, the acceptance of mediocrity and the risk of losing competitive advantage to hungrier and more ambitious rivals.
